Introduction
TNSCDR (Tamil Nadu State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission) is a statutory, autonomous, and constitutional institution formed in Tamil Nadu as a quasi judicial body under the Section 24-B of the Consumer Protection Act, 1986. It was formed to protect the rights of consumers. It is the system of alternate dispute resolution between the conflicting parties during the trade process. The state government appoints the president of State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, in consultation with the State High Court’s Chief Justice.

Levels and jurisdiction
TNSCDR was formed for protecting and promoting the rights of consumers through 3 levels with the below mentioned jurisdiction.
1. District Commission: Accepts complaints from the consumers if the goods or services value is up to ₹1 crore.
2. State Commission: Accepts complaints from the consumer if the goods or services value is more than ₹1 CR but less than ₹10 CR.
3. The National Commission: Accepts complaints from the consumers if the goods or services value is more than ₹ 10 CR.
